Semporna citizens celebrate English Channel swimmer as hero





Semporna: solo swimmers swim the English Channel 1Malaysia Unity (RPSI1M), Estino Taniyu, who managed to cross the English Channel on 21 September, is celebrated as a hero by the people of Semporna.

Members of the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) 24-year-old received thunderous applause from more 2,000 people gathered in the village of Semporna-Egret Egret, birthplace Estino, this afternoon. 

Also Estino homecoming, a record with a swim for 13 hours 45 minutes and 45 seconds, is the Minister of Rural and Regional Development and Member of Parliament Semporna, Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie. Estino finish solo swim organized by the Seven Continents Club Malaysia Exploration at Sandy Beach, Calaif, France at 10.20 pm (Malaysian time) after the start of Dover Beach, United Kingdom at 8:41 am (Malaysian time).Shafie, while welcoming the success, Estino regard as a hero and his success to overcome challenges before the successful capture of the English Channel is one of pride, not only to citizens but people Semporna Sabah and Malaysia as a whole. "This is an impressive record and bring honor to our country and community well Villages Egrets, Storks, this Semporna. Long time ago, there was a hunter. These hunters were hunting deer with his two dogs. Because of  deer hunter too fast then the hunter left far away on the back.Then the deer seaward to be followed by the dogs earlier.Finally the hunters arrived at the place where the deer are. But he turn to shocked to find that deer  and the dogs were turned to stone. Until now the stones are still visible in the beach of cape Sawangan Coast, Cape Turtle.

A sad event in Batu Caves in Luang
This sad event occurred a long time ago. At that time there is a pair of bridal wedding  at the bride home. After a few days after the wedding ceremony, then it is now about time they returned to the house of the groom (virtual Wagu said the tatana).Accompanied by her family, it is the time for the bride and groom walk in the early morning . When they were almost at rock called Gua Batu Luang, a sudden strong winds, dark clouds and it was followed by heavily rain. 
Aware of this situation they would rush to seek refuge in a cave now known Luang Cave Rock. Once the rain stopped so they began to come out of the caves. The groom is the second-last out. The last person still in the cave is the bride. Once the bride is stretched his hand to pull her husband suddenly land in the cave precipitates / down. The husband desperately trying to save his wife but his wife could only stretch their wedding rings then disappeared swallowed by the earth. The extent to which the truth of this story hard to prove. the real cave still exists until today.

Early detection of breast cancer can safely life



KOTA KINABALU: The early detection of breast cancer through a mammogram test can help save lives if detected early.
Minister of Community Development and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Azizah Mohd Dun said the findings show the chances of cure are high if the cancer is detected and treated effectively in its early stages.
"Therefore, the awareness is a major factor to detect cancer at an early stage to be treated successfully.
"Hopefully, through various breast cancer awareness program conducted in October of each year to further enhance awareness and facts about breast cancer in the community," he said in his speech in conjunction with breast cancer awareness campaign by Permai Polyclinic, here yesterday.
The speech was delivered by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Consumer Affairs and Social Development, Datuk Asnimar Sukardi.
Azizah said over the past three years a total of 17 out of Sabah 3.368 tested positive mammogram detected cancer.
Meanwhile, Chairman of the Glorious Polyclinic, Dr. James Jeremiah said the cooperation between the Glorious Polyclinic and Kinabalu Pink Ribbon, he hoped that was able to increase the awareness of breast cancer in the community.
"Through an open forum, this effort is to raise awareness and reduce the stigma of breast cancer through education about early screening, symptoms and treatment," he said.
In support of breast cancer awareness campaign, at 1 to October 31, the Polyclinic in Jalan Pantai Permai offer breast ultrasound or mammogram for a fee of RM40 per person.

Raising funds through the treatment will be donated to Kinabalu Pink Ribbon subsidies for the purchase of vans to provide services to women in rural and sub-urban areas.

Breast cancer sufferers have to speak up to share information

KOTA KINABALU: To encourage breast cancer survivors to come forward and share information, Kinabalu Pink Ribbon actively conducting outreach programs throughout the state.
As a non-governmental organization (NGO), the association wants more breast cancer patients in this country in particular the support from the community.
President, Lucilla Pang said October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and in conjunction with, the various programs implemented mainly in association fundraising.
He said South Sea Sanctuary spa center did not miss their support by offering a special promotion at its premises in Kampung Air here.
"Five percent of every purchase will be donated to Kinabalu Pink Ribbon to help patients and survivors of the disease.
"The support and cooperation extended by the South Sea Sanctuary significant contributions to the association and next to breast cancer survivors," he told reporters here yesterday.
He said that since its inception two years ago, 270 people became members of the association and it was able to expand the activities they run.
Obviously, through outreach programs conducted, they will visit rural areas to provide guidance and exposure-related disease.
Added, the area is visited, including in Tenom and Kudat.
"We were able to share with people around the initial step to identify the disease and how to conduct self-examination.
"This is because, there are still many out there who are embarrassed to share about the disease they face and are more willing to undergo traditional treatment.
"Some 80 percent of this association are survivors of breast cancer. Thus, the amount of information and knowledge that we can share to help them live a better life, "he said.
Lucilla said, people living with cancer need to be more courageous and positive to come forward and avoid embarrassment.
Said he wanted to show others, especially breast cancer patients and survivors in order to live life with more joy.
"So far, we also got a call from among a husband, father and the brother of breast cancer patients to learn more about the programs that we run and also the disease.
"In addition, through a program run we are also able to raise more funds and this will help us revitalize various activities to disseminate information on breast cancer," he said.
Meanwhile, Health Consultant, South Sea Sanctuary, Dr Sivakumar Kumaresan said every year about 4,000 women diagnosed with breast cancer.
Of this he said, most people aged 35 to 60 years with 40 percent of sufferers are those aged 50 years and below.

Sipitang

Sipitang is a town which is also a parliamentary constituency located in the Interior Division of Sabah. It is the closest town to the Sabah-Sarawak border, situated 44 kilometers south of Beaufort and 144 kilometers south of Kota Kinabalu.

Sipitang is home of the Kedayan, Lundayeh, Brunei Malay and Murut indigenous people. Its mainly undisturbed surrounding offers one of Sabah’s most beautiful natural attractions—the Maga Waterfall of Long Pasia.

Magunatip Dance ( video )



This Magunatip dance belongs to the Muruts tribe of Kuhijaw (Kwijau). This dance is previously performed to celebrate a successful battle or to welcome a victorious headhunting party. However, today it is only performed at festive occasion. The Muruts are concentrated in the interior district of Tenom, and surrounding areas. They are also known a the "Headhunters". Magunatip dance is a folk dance, tribal society some Murut in the interior of Sabah. 
Magunatip word taken from the word "atip meaning 'to press between two surfaces.
Dancers Magunatip require skill and agility to dance among the bamboo that are hit together to 
produce the rhythm of the dance.
Usually this does not require the accompaniment of dance music because the sound of the bamboo
that crashed together will create a loud sound and interesting beats and rhythms. 
This dance is a dance that is performed during certain ceremonies to honor guests.

Sumazau



Sumazau is a traditional folk dance of Sabah Sabah is well known in and around Malaysia . It is a dance tradition Kadazandusun often presented in Tadau Kaamatan which means Harvest Day is celebrated in the state of Sabah on each May.
This elegantly dance inspiration is from an eagle flight patterns seen the rest of the farmers in the fields during harvest. Each dancer is what makes this dance must move a few centimeters from another dancer without contact.
Dance ritual fulfill a variety of functions such as a pulled Sumazau thanksgiving for activities associated with planting and harvesting rice and also to reject the army, menyemah spirit, and cure diseases.
This dance is performed by the peasants made ​​up of men and women to wear their traditional dress. The dance is played with accompaniment beating gongs , gong usually 6 pieces of various sizes and a drum with a specific rhythm. Duration and pace of shot is elegantly gong vary by region and country.
The dance is danced with both hands raised to shoulder level and dikibar-Flag kipasan like bird wings, as the tempo tunes played slowly and gently. The dancers, male and female, and their front face moving his legs with small steps, heels up and down to the beat of the music. While dancing dikepakkan hand and move it down just like a bird flying. Sumazau is usually performed during festive occasions and gatherings, but the original purpose of this dance is to welcome "Bambaazon" (rice spirit) is commonly done in after harvest.
Sumazau dancers consisting of men and women usually wore black decorated with interesting patterns using gold thread. The female dancers adorned with scarves and belts (tangkong) made of silver coins (trade dollars). Male dancers will usually cursing tanjak while dressed all in black and menyendang silad leaves dry.
Now dance elegantly held in many gatherings such as wedding receptions, entertainment occasions welcoming dignitaries, where it was also performed by all attendees regardless of race and age to enliven the occasion without wearing clothes traditional black.
